Do you believe in a plant-based diet?

Tess: Yes, I do believe in the benefits of a plant-based diet. The science behind a whole-food, plant-based diet consistently shows that people who consume more whole plant foods and less animal-based products tend to experience better overall health. This evidence led me now to focus to eating more of whole, healthier choices of foods.

Before embarking on my journey of sharing my passion for baking plant-based treats, I harbored doubts about whether the benefits of a plant-based diet would apply to me and whether I would find plant-based foods satisfying. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover a whole new world of delicious, filling, and healthy desserts. Not only did I experience positive changes such as weight loss, increased energy, and the disappearance of long-standing aches and pains, but I also became convinced of the effectiveness and benefits of a plant-based diet.

This realization inspired me to share my experience with others, particularly health-conscious individuals looking to diversify their diet. I wanted to educate and inspire everyone that we can still enjoy happy, delicious desserts that are specially catered for those watching their sugar and dairy intake to avoid any type of inflammation that could potentially trigger gut-related allergy issues. Through my journey, I aim to show that adopting a plant-based diet can lead to positive changes in health and overall well-being.

 Our pastries distinguish themselves from those in trendy cafes and stores due to our emphasis on traditional baking techniques. This dedication yields flavorful and unique products that stand out from mass-produced options. These techniques require passion, patience, skill, and attention to detail, ensuring that each pastry has its own distinct taste.

Tess: Customers can expect their journey with our healthier desserts to be a transformative experience. We cater to beginners and aspire to offer more support for those already on a plant-based journey, providing a wide variety of flavors to suit different tastes. As they incorporate our desserts into their lifestyle, customers may naturally lose weight and develop a more positive relationship with food. Many feel a sense of optimism and motivation as they witness the benefits of healthier eating.

Our products not only satisfy cravings but also help customers address any underlying food issues and break the cycle of self-sabotage. With delicious and enjoyable options, our desserts make the journey towards healthier eating both delightful and rewarding.

Tess: It's true that adopting a plant-based diet may require some extra planning and preparation, but the benefits far outweigh the time investment. Personally, I've found that involving my loved ones in the kitchen and sharing the cooking process has been incredibly rewarding. It's not just about nourishing our bodies with healthy food; it's also a chance to unplug, catch up, and connect in a meaningful way.

For me, baking and cooking have become a form of meditation. I love creating delicious treats and meals that not only nourish the body but also engage the senses and feed the soul. Despite being busy, I prioritize having quick and easy access to nutritious food options. Having a variety of treats ready to enjoy at any moment ensures that my family and I can recharge and indulge in wholesome goodness whenever we need a boost of energy.

 

 

Can you also share how you choose and prepare these pastries for your pastry business?

Tess: I love to prioritize using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients for most of our main components, including cacao butter and powder for our chocolates, grains, nuts, fresh vegetables, and fruits. This commitment ensures that our pastries reflect the unique flavor profile of the local area. By sourcing ingredients from nearby farms, we support the local economy and guarantee freshness.

Crafting my pastries in small batches daily enables me to pay close attention to every detail and innovate with new flavors and techniques. This approach leads to the creation of exciting and unique pastry offerings, distinguishing us from onsite retail bakeries.

How can people following a plant-based diet get the nutrition they need?  

Tess: Following a plant-based diet rich in whole foods like fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, and seeds can provide ample nutrition without the need for supplements. However, it's crucial for individuals to pay attention to their bodies and seek guidance from a healthcare professional if they have any concerns about their diet, health, or any significant changes they are making to their dietary habits. This is particularly important for those with pre-existing health conditions or who are taking medication.
